The first thing that caught my attention was the early stages of the conception of video games. Most of the early games were actually made by people who had military background and had experience making simulations. It is interesting to think that one of the biggest hobbies in the world was started because people in the military got bored and wanted to do something else. The second thing that caught my attention was  the role Japan played in the growth of video games becoming so mainstream. In Japan, they are constantly looking for the next big thing that they can capitalize on, so when this hobby came around where there wasn't a large amount of money required to get into it, a lot of people started playing video games. The third thing that I found interesting was that it took 9 months to build one chip for video game like pong. Nowadays somebody could build something like pong in an afternoon and have it published the same day. It just goes to show how much harder it was back in the day to make and produce something like that.
